Dawg on Gaming... The Pac-Man Album
There isn't a gamer alive that isn't familiar with Pac-Man.
The game took the world by storm starting in 1980, and still hasn't let go. The yellow pizza-with-a-slice-missing hero has graced screens around the world, and inspired maze-style games to evolve including the popular Doom and Wolfenstein 3D in the early 90s.
But, what you probably didn't know is that a Pac-Man picture disc was created. And what's a picture disc you ask?
On the Tubez... Handbell Memories
Little known fact ahead!
For many years, I (and consequently my sister Amberlori) played in a handbell choir at our church when we were younger.
We're both rather musically inclined. We both played piano, were in band, and choir. I played the saxophone as well, Amber the clarinet. Handbells was sort of a natural addition to our repetoire at the time, the choir led by the ever patient and always supportive Mrs. Shanks.
I have to say though, I haven't thought about my days in handbells for a long time. A very long time. In fact, I'd pretty much forgotten about it up until now. So thank you internet for the sudden reminder and resurfacing of these memories! They're fond, for sure. Just set aside over the years is all.
Dawg's Playlist... A Christmas Together
As a kid, we had a record player and a lot of records. The funny thing is, I don't remember receiving any of these records as gifts, or where they would've come from.
Regardless, that record player was used well into my teens. Particularly because there were so many albums that held a lot of sentimental value for all of us in my family. This includes other favourites such as the Boney M Christmas Album, The Carpenters, Anne Murray's Christmas album.
We'd listen to them over and over. It would be someone's job on Christmas morning to go and flip or change the record when it was done, as the record player would be blasting from upstairs while we'd be downstairs in the living room with the tree and gifts.
On the Tubez... Bye Bye Plurk
Plurk is officially going the way of the dodo for me.
The link to my Plurk profile here on Dawg|Net (in the top-right corner) actually disappeared some time ago.
I might pop in occasionally to see what's up with the few people I'm still following. But otherwise, I already have contact with most through Google+, Facebook, or Twitter. There isn't much reason to continue supporting it, and I won't be posting there at all.
Plus, Plurk is on a continual downhill slide. Their userbase is shrinking (though the developers would probably claim otherwise) and the platform isn't really moving forward. Which is unfortunate, because I think Plurk is unique and had something special going for it, that has since fizzled out and likely not recoverable.
Ultimately they didn't listen well to their users, they didn't continue to innovate, and they didn't make use of the resources they had at their disposal. PlurkBuddy, anyone?
Ah well. Hello Facebook, Twitter and Google+!
I wonder if one of you will be next?
